Lívia Gorka

Ceramist

The book was published in 2010 on the occasion of the exhibition organised for the 85th anniversary of Lívia Gorka’s birthday (in English and Hungarian).

Lívia Gorka was one of the most defining figures of modern Hungarian ceramic art for four decades from the 1950s. This book undertakes to present the artist’s oeuvre. From all eras of her creative activity, writers have sought to line up worthy pieces, from the beginning to the last works. Through original photographs and newspaper articles, they can get to know not only the work of the artist, but also the age in which she created.

The main source of her art was nature itself, characterised by large asymmetrical vessels, idols, fish, birds, stones. She created unique objects.
